2013 Vegetable Shares

Vegetable CSA

Our CSA is 20 weeks running from mid May through mid September.  All your vegetables are grown using organic methods, are free of synthetic pesticides, herbicides, fungicides and fertilizers.

Also, please note that due to the seasonal nature of produce farming, your CSA box will start out with a lesser value and increase in value throughout the season.  Therefore, your spring boxes will have less produce and variety in them than your mid summer and late season boxes.  Your spring CSA box will range in value from $10-$20 while your mid and late season box will range in value from $15-$30.  See our “FAQ” page for estimates of how many people and meals you can expect from our full and half share options.  These estimates are based on mid and late season box sizes.

 CSA Half Shares

Half shares are very popular especially for couples and inviduals – In a Balsam Gardens half share you will pick up a full box of produce every other week.

CSA Box Pick-Up

Pickup locations and times will be the same as 2012.  Pickup is on Wednesday evenings between the hours of 5:00 and 7:00.  There will be a drop in downtown Sylva and a pickup at the farm, which is located conveniently 1/2 a mile off HWY 74 approximately halfway between Waynesville and Sylva.  Last season, Waynesville folks picked up at the farm.  We will do the same this season unless we hear from a number of members that a drop is preferable.

Payment

A Full Share is $500 for the season

A Half Share is $275

For Full Share members we do offer the ability to pay in installments (however, in the long run, this will cost you $15 extra).  You can pay a $65 registration fee and three installments of $150 in May, June and July.

**Other payment options can be arranged based on financial need.  We are happy to do this, please don’t hesitate to contact us about what would work for you and your family.

***A CSA model is most effective for the farmer when members join in the early spring.  However, we do accept CSA members at anytime throughout the season at a pro-rated cost.
